Ukay Stores: Monumento

June 1, 2009

I did it! Yay!

I’ve always wanted to make a post about the stores I frequent in Monumento, but I never get to take pictures when I’m there. I got my chance last week when my Mom asked me to buy some stuff. It was a little cloudy, but my camera was still able to get some pics.

How to get to Monumento:

It’s fairly easy to get there. Take LRT Line 1 (Northbound) and get off at Monumento station. The adventure starts here.

CLAYTON Store

When you get off at Monumento station, you’ll see an entrance to Ever Gotesco Grand Central on the left side. Go in and a few steps later, you’ll find Clayton. It’s a fairly big place. They have everything from clothes to shoes and bags. I don’t find their shoe collection big enough though, so I don’t recommend it for shoe hunters.

Prices are like every other ukay shop, though they rarely go on all-out sales. As of typing, they’re on 20% off sale.

‘Secret’ Shops

There’s some secret shops for Monumento first timers. You can find them behind Victory Central Mall (I usually pass by this one when I walk to my jeepney terminal). To get there, you have to locate Victory Mall first.

Victory Mall is right beside the Victory bus terminal. To get there (from Ever), go out through Ever’s main entrance. You’ll see a Uniwide branch across the street. Walk to the right until you find the pedestrian lane, and right in front of you is Victory Mall.

Get in the mall and walk towards the back exit. There’s two exits. One is right beside National Bookstore. The other is beside The Real Bank. Go to the Real Bank exit (follow this: there’s a DIY shop on the right side of National Bookstore, then some shop, then some food stalls. You’ll see a shop that sells light fixtures near the escalator. Near the light fixtures shop is the exit).

(this is real bank. It has red walls - argh! bad pic)

You’ll see several DVD stalls here. Follow the stream of people (there’s usually a stream of people, haha) that goes to the right and you’ll find a string of storesm two of which are ukay-ukay.

Balyag’s Ukay-Ukay

Photobucket

Balyag’s Ukay-Ukay is right beside a

Natasha branch and is the first shop you’ll find. Their collection is quite small, but most of their items are in good shape. The shop’s relatively new, they’ve been there for a few months (or maybe a year or so) only.

They only sell clothes (they don’t have shoes. Meh). As of typing, they are on sale.

Take a peek inside. That’s all that they have. Haha.

Shop Number 2

Photobucket

They don’t have a name.

This shop is right beside Mercury Drug. They sell clothes, shoes and plushies (yay!). They have two floors; the first floor contains their regular items while the second floor contains their super-sale items plus shoes.

This shop used to be the ugliest one I go to, it looked run down, they had bad clothes, and their collection was very small. There was a change of ownership, I believe, and now they stocked their shop with enough clothes that can last them for months. They also have good items now.

Pics!

Photobucket

Plushies!!! This is the first thing I saw when I got there.

Photobucket

Clothes at the first floor. TONS of clothes.

Photobucket

More plushies and on-sale clothes at the second floor.

Photobucket

Shoes! They don’t have much boots though.

***

That’s it! There are two more shops in Monumento, and I’ll be featuring them when I have time. Enjoy shopping!
