Packing for Cosplay: What to Bring (Part 2)
October 26, 2009Okay, now that we’re done with the things we have to have in our bags, let’s consider the other things we have to bring: ourselves. :3
Rule Number 3: Dress Light
Here’s my outfit last Saturday:
I’m not a sad kitteh, m’kay? I just hate flashies.
After you put on your costume, there’s this left-over casual outfit you donned on your way to the convention. Personally, I don’t like carrying around a heavy bag of clothes. So I usually wear something that is easy to carry and light. I wear a simple shirt, a skirt or a pair of lightweight jeans, and shoes/slippers that I’d use for my costume. Now, before you say “hey, I’d look like someone who just escaped from home!”, remember that you can always have a light cardigan over your shirt - just to add a little something.
Outfit: Pink Polkadot short, tiangge; gray mini, BNY; pink sneakers, ???; white handbag, Liz Claiborne.
Rule Number 3.1: Wear a part of your costume!
Fine, this is not applicable at all times, but do it whenever you can. Seriously, it saves bag space. I usually do this with my footwear. For example:
(Fai)Lili Rochefort from Tekken 5 and the oh-so-cute Bumblebee
Teh boots. I wear them on my way to conventions since they’re pretty easy to walk in.
Also,
Not the headpiece! The shoes! (Ohohoho, sorry for that)
I changed the laces to make it look a little new, and a bit more connected to my Taiwan costume. I also finished making the headpiece, which is basically plastic roses (?) and ribbons attached to a headband with some copper wires. For some reason,I have a ‘matching’ outfit.

That’s it! I hope you liked my little list for packing. Feel free to suggest more! I would like to hear from you.
