Random Find: Wind-up Alarm Clock

November 4, 2009

On my way home last week, I passed by an unfamiliar store with a pink hanbok (a traditional Korean dress) display outside. Curious, I checked out the shop and lo, tons of second-hand stuff from Korea! Too bad I don’t have our camera that night, could’ve taken some pics. I think I have to do a post about these Korean thrift shops, there are three in the Monumento area right now.

There were cups, linen, semi-ornate metal chopsticks (I’m going back for these), figurines, plushies plus more random items you can use at home. It was a small store but I spent at least 15 minutes browsing through stuff. Of all those things, I got myself this:

A wind-up alarm clock, a noisy darn thing to wake me up in the morning. I’ve always wanted to have one, but they’re hard to find (we have ebay, but I don’t like buying items off the internet). Well, it’s not the real thing - I had to get an AA battery for this one. But it works just the same! And its cheap too!

They have tons of these with different designs. This one is the biggest, about the size of a saucer. The small ones are cute, but I just had to have a big (noisy) one. My grandma loves it, she said we really need one of these.

Its annoying in the mornings, just like the way its supposed to do. It even scared me the first morning it went off - I thought I was having a bad dream only to realize it was the alarm clock. Also, this little thing can wake-up the whole neighborhood. Unfortunately, I still have this ongoing battle between my will to wake up earlier and my body clock wanting to wake up an hour late. Fight-o!

I figured I should try taking a bath at night before I sleep. I used to do it before when I was still in college. Couldn’t do it all the time though for some unknown reason. Tried it again last night and it kind of worked for me - if only I turned the alarm clock on before going to sleep. I’ll try doing it again later tonight, hopefully I can get to work early tomorrow.

In other news, Liz of Project Vanity is having a blog sale! She’s selling some of her make-up, so do check her blog. I got her Minearaux Undereye Corrector - something to use to hide my eyebags (oh those photoshoots!). I expect these things to sell like hotcakes, so go visit the blog before she sells everything out!
