Ame no Jidai
December 1, 2009We’ve been planning to do this group cosplay for the past few months, and we finally did it! Say hello to our Castlevania cosplay group:

From L to R: Kagenoir as Aeon from Castlevania: Judgement, Zhyxres as Soma Cruz from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Celestine as Camilla from Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, N as… (I forgot your character~ are you Elizabeth Bartley?), Madz as Shanoa from Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, and Imahica as Stella Lecarde from Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.
Most of my ‘art’ time for the past three weeks was spent on constructing this costume. By ‘art’ time, I mean 3 to 4 hours on weekends and around an hour or two on weekdays, plus the all nighter the night before the convention itself.
Anyway, I had the dress made by some dressmaker - I have a lot of issues with this person. He made a lot of serious mistakes on my dress! Moving on, I made my armor myself (chest plate, hip armor, shin guard and knee pads) out of rubber sheets, plus the sword. I also had to customize the dress, I attached the fur on my gloves and was supposed to sew on lace on the neckpiece and gloves but ran out of time. I was also supposed to do some more detailing on my armor (repaint the chestplate details, work on the detailing of the rest of the armor) and work on the gold details of the sword. Ah, the essence of cramming.
I will not cram a costume ever again! (more details after the jump!)
I got my pointed boots a few months back at Padre Faura ukay for a very low price. I was planning to experiment on it, but got too lazy to do so. When I agreed to cosplay as Shanoa, I instantly remembered these boots. They were originally light brown and had strings so I had to have it recolored and fixed. It was perfect for the costume, it even matched the color of the shin guard!
On this photo, you’ll notice that my skirt is ‘flared’. The dressmaker made a mistake by assuming that this dress only had one slit (it was supposed to have two) and ‘fixed’ the dress by just slashing and resewing the other side. He didn’t adjust the skirt. Meh. I’ll have this fixed by a different dressmaker.
My fave photo with Stella. On this photo, you’ll see that the back of my dress lies on my middle back. Its supposed to sit really low (on my waist) to give way to the body paint. The dressmaker forgot to do this adjustment. The gloves and neckpiece were made by a different dressmaker since the first one made disastrous pieces.

On this photo, you’ll notice my ‘wobbly’ sword and that nasty paint job I did on my hip armor. My gloves was also falling apart. And oh, I forgot to hide my glasses for this shot. The sword got that shape due to bad gluing skills. I also had to customize the sword by using white ribbon on the hand guard detail instead of using the gold foil I have.
We might have a group photoshoot for our Castlevania group, so I’ll have to work on my costume improvements for the next few weeks. I also have to do something about my hair - too fluffy!
