Projects: Lace Roses
July 9, 2010It all started with these two:
I’ve had the pink lace in my sewing arsenal for a while and I never had the chance to use it. So once boring afternoon, I decided to take my stock lace out and do some ruffles. Then I took some felt, stiched the ruffles on, got a heavy faux pearl, and voila! A pretty lace rose!
And I never got to put back my sewing kit.
I love lace. For me, lace looks elegant, classy, and timeless. That’s why whenever I make up something with lace, I get inspired to make other things.
Haha, I just attached the black rose to a headband. I designed the rose lace in a way that I can use a single rose as a hairclip, a brooch, or a headband attachment. My Mom liked this one because she can adjust the rose all over the headband.
This is the last lace piece I made before moving on to another material:
This is a simple velvet choker accented with three lace roses attached to one side. I don’t have a photo of me wearing this (my neck is too short to model chokers, haha), but I think it’ll look pretty when worn with a simple dress. I think it’ll also look good with a plain cream blouse, pinstriped pants, and black pumps.
I’ll probably work on a few more lace pieces soon. Well, after I’m finished working on some hats. Yes, hats.
